Course Offerings

Artist or collector, beginner or professional, whatever your skill level or interest, Art League of Hilton Head’s Academy has a place for you.  Offering courses in a variety of media for artists of all ages and abilities.

Fall Classes

Fall classes are set to begin Monday, September 12 and run through December 10.  Take a look at the classes and workshops and register now. The art experiences offered in this new session include activities for new, as well as seasoned art students, and everyone in between.

Student Art Show in December

The Opening Reception of the Student Art Show for students of the Spring, Summer and Fall Sessions will be held Friday, December 2, 5-7 PM, at Art League Academy, 106 Cordillo Parkway. This will be a juried show.
 Make sure you mark this date on your calendar.  It will be a great show and a fun night for all.

Artist to Artist Open Studio Continues

 
Our Artist to Artist Open Studio nights have proven to be a welcomed addition to our schedule, so we are going to continue them into the fall.  The September Open Studios are set for Wednesday, September 14 and Monday, September 26, 6-9 PM.
Please call or email Jackie if you would like to come for one or both nights.  Check the Fall Class Schedule for October and November dates.

LUNCH WITH THE MASTERS

Thursdays, Noon – 1 pm

The programs start promptly at 12:00, approximately 45 – 60 minutes

Bring your brown bag and enjoy DVDs about the lives and work of some of the world’s most creative minds of artists from Europe, America & Mexico.

October 13 – Pissarro

A most influential painter in the beginning of Impressionism.

October 20 – The Group of Seven

The Canadian Impressionist painters struggle against the critics and academic painters of the day.

October 27 – Frido Kahlo

A 20th century Mexican female painter and her struggles, emotionally and physically.

November 3 – Alberto Giacometti

A student of Rodin, who later went on to become one of the most influential artists in the postmodern 20th century.

November 10 – Andrew Wyeth

A very personal story of one of the greatest American artists.

November 17 – David Hockney

A revealing portrait of what inspires and motivates today’s greatest living British-born artist.

 

 book club

The Art League Education Committee invites all art and book lovers to join our Art League Book Club. Art League Book Club will meet again September 10th.

Marriage of Opposites by Alice Hoffman is the book for the September meeting.
For October 1st, the selection is The Last Painting of Sara de Vos: a  Novel by Dominic Smith.
And, The Vanishing Velasquez: a 19th c Bookseller’s Obsession with a Lost Masterpieceby Laura Cumming is the November 5th book selection.
There is no book club meeting in December.
