About the Collaborative Exhibit

Art League of Hilton Head and Lifelong Learning of Hilton Head Island are excited to announce a collaboration exhibit this coming this October! The exhibit will have a “Side-by-side” theme of People, Places and Things of the Lowcountry. Local photographers and other artists will portray the same subject matter in their own style and mediums.

Now that we’ve peaked your curiosity and excitement, we need you photographers to get your cameras and head to your favorite lowcountry site and make the magic happen.

Photographers can submit up to two original photographs reflecting the theme: People, Places and Things of the Lowcountry. They must be of good quality, high resolution JPG or PNG file.

• Photo submissions should be emailed to: Academy@ArtLeagueHHI.org by June 14, 2023.

Once photographs are received, they will be uploaded to the gallery below, and other artists can view and choose which one they want to re-create in whatever medium and style they choose.

• Other artists will be invited to make their choices between June 19 and June 23, 2023.

NOTE: Photographers can enter up to 2 pieces, however, only 1 piece will be accepted into the show based upon other artists choices.

• All photographers who submit work will be notified by Art League of Hilton Head and/or Lifelong Learning of Hilton Head Island on June 26, 2023.
  • Whatever photograph chosen by another artist to re-interpret, must be framed for presentation and sale and dropped off at Art League Academy on October 14, 2023 between 10am and 2pm
    

• The exhibit will be held at Art League Academy, 106 Cordillo Parkway, from October 16 to October 25, 2023.
  • Art League Academy’s hours will be 10am to 2pm each day, with the exhibit being free and open to the public.

• An Artists reception will be held on October 18, 2023 from 5 to 7pm.
  • During the reception, visitors will choose their favorite photograph, recreation and pair during a People’s Choice vote.

• Remember, if you want to participate in this fun and exciting collaborative event, you must submit your photograph(s) no later than June 14, 2023 to: Academy@ArtLeagueHHI.org.

Instructions for Other Artists

Other Artists in the community can choose from the following photographs, submitted by local photographers, from which they will re-create in their own style and medium. The original photograph and the re-creation will be hung side-by-side in an exhibit from October 16 through October 25, 2023. An artists reception will be held on October 18, 2023 from 5 to 7pm where guests will vote for their favorite photograph, recreation, and for their favorite pair.

NOTE: Only one photograph will be used for photographers that submitted multiple. The spreadsheet will automatically update to dis-include photographs that have already been chosen by another artist.
